VIDA Museum & Art Gallery
Nine kilometers south of Borgholm on Öland, a little hidden from Landsvägen but still right next door, lies beautiful VIDA, next door to Halltorps Gästgiveri. The museum is approx. 2000 square meters large with two museum halls and four gallery/art halls. The best in Swedish and Nordic contemporary art, photography, painting, video, sculpture, design and fashion etc. is shown here
The museum was expanded in 2003 and 2005, when a. two new art galleries and a cafe with a fantastic terrace were added.
In VIDA's café, during the high season, you can sit and read an art book or just enjoy the fantastic view of Kalmarsund and the nature reserve Halltorps Hage.
At VIDA there is a large MUSEUM SHOP with an extensive selection of unique art glass and a variety of design objects that can only be found at VIDA. The store also has a fine selection of modern design, books, jewellery, clothes, posters, graphics etc
In the museum shop there are products from e.g. HAY, Bitte Kai Rand, Lampefeber, Kosta Boda, Design House Stockholm, The Ministry of Tea, Kueen and selected artists/designers.
At VIDA there is also a children's corner where drawing competitions etc. are arranged
Concerts, events etc. are arranged on an ongoing basis
