Summer course in ceramics at Skabbekatten
A wonderful intensive course for those who want to learn as much as possible about the ceramic craft. A creative and productive holiday is promised in Djurstad.
During the summer of 2026, three 8-day courses will be held in Djurstad on northeastern Öland. The course is suitable for those with or without experience who want to work extensively with stoneware clay as a material, and also want to try working with porcelain and firing raku. You will receive both practical and theoretical guidance, a lot of information and inspiration. The first four days we will work our way through ringling, sand casting, turning, filling, patterns, decoration, rolling and rolling with colored clay. On the fifth and sixth days of the course, you will work independently in the workshop. The last two days of the course are devoted to glaze and raku firing. After the end of the course, it will take about 4-6 weeks before the items are fired. Then we will meet again to discuss the results. You will take home a compendium summarizing the course content. The course takes place in a rural Öland environment where you can take a break in the garden, take a walk to the water or borrow a book from the ceramics shelf to fill up with inspiration and reflection.
