During the bright time of the year, May to September, there is, in addition to the Öland Bridge, another possibility to get to and from Öland, namely with the popular bicycle ferry Dessi. As cycling and walking are prohibited on the Öland Bridge, the ferry is used extensively by both tourists and commuters, as it makes it possible to cross the strait with or without a bicycle.
The crossing between Färjestaden and Kalmar takes about 30 minutes. There is room for 118 passengers in the saloon, with cafeteria, and on the sun deck. Bicycles are transported in racks on the aft deck, which has room for 50 bicycles. Boarding takes place at Skeppsbron in Kalmar, as well as in Ferry Town's harbor on Öland.
Tickets are bought on board the ferry with a debit card. There are also different types of discounted cards such as 10 cards. These are also bought on board the ferry, directly from the deckhand. Read more about tickets and prices on the timetable.

Dessi is a catamaran, built in 2006. She is 19,8 m long and 8 m wide. The owner is Ressel Rederi AB.
