Along the coast of Öland lie traces of a long and eventful maritime history. Here, wrecks and historical remains tell the story of ships that ran aground or sank in the challenging waters around the island. Here, the imprint of history lives on, both on land and below the surface.
Swiks is one of Öland's most talked about wrecks and is located at Trollskogen in northern Öland. The three-masted schooner ran aground in a blizzard in the winter of 1926, but the entire crew managed to make it ashore. To this day, parts of the wreck rest on the beach and tell the story of a dramatic event in Öland's maritime history.
