The Musical Charlie & the Chocolate Factory

Charlie's family is poor and lives in a wretched little shack around the corner from Willy Wonka's amazing chocolate factory. Every day when poor, kind-hearted and candy-loving Charlie Bucket walks past Wonka's magical factory, he dreams of all the wonderful things that can be found there. One day, Willy Wonka announces a competition to choose the person who will one day take over his candy empire. Wonka announces that he has hidden five golden tickets in as many chocolate bars. Then the unlikely happens! Charlie and four other lucky children win the biggest prize and get a guided tour through the mysterious and mythical candy factory, where no outsider has set foot in 15 years. Charlie is more than happy, but finds that the other children are incredibly spoiled and Wonka's helpful oompa-loompies have a very hard time keeping the children and their families in order. This is the beginning of an adventure full of flowing chocolate rivers, unmeltable ice cream and mysterious creatures. Which of the five children will win the final prize? It will be an experience that surpasses Charlie's wildest imagination. But not everything is as sweet as it seems inside the gates! The original script was written by David Greig and the Swedish translation was made by Erik Fägerborn for the Gothenburg Opera where it has been performed both in 2024 and 2025 with Ola Salo in the role of Willy Wonka. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a performance suitable for all ages - the whole family is welcome!
