The middle wall

The central wall is the first wall that was laid on Stora alvaret. The stone wall is about 4 miles long and runs across the entire Great Alvar in a north-south direction and is said to have been one of the first walls that was added after the crown's lands were divided during the "outland division" in the early 1800s. As a result of this division of open land, the stone walls that today give character to the alvar and lake lands on Öland were added.
