Linden reserve - meadows and flowering linden.

The linden reserve is one of Öland's finest nature reserves. Here there are deciduous forests, pine forests, open pastures, elms, marshes and hay meadows rich in herbs. In the reserve you can experience larger stands of linden, which is extremely rare today.

Linden is a type of wood that had a greater distribution in our country during warmer periods, especially during the Bronze Age. Many lindens, ash trees and oaks in the area are very old, and ash and linden bear traces of previous pruning, leaf removal. The oaks have large crowns, which shows that they once grew in an open landscape.

In the Linden reserve, there are meadows with noble deciduous trees and a species-rich flora. The meadows have the typical appearance of Öland with a mixture of completely open areas and in between narrow curtains of trees and bushes. During early summer and summer, here you can experience a lovely floral splendor of golden viva, St. Per's keys, St. John's keys, quaking grass, hay fever, cross gorse, bride's spur and night violet.

Many birds and bats thrive in the leafy meadows, which are dependent on old, coarse broadleaf trees with holes in them. The unusual collared flycatcher and the rare species of fringed bat and goblin bat can be found here.
