The coffee house at Ismantorps Borg
To the east of the large, mighty ancient castle, a small red ridge cottage looms at the edge of the castle grounds. It has functioned as a cafe. for the castle's visitors for several generations since about 1950. It is very scenic and peacefully located.
Nature lovers, bird watchers, history buffs, families with children, pathfinders, villagers and those looking for peace and quiet come here, as well as visitors from distant places to rest for a while, have an ancient coffee and maybe reflect and talk for a while about the course of history, time and nature . Here you can sit and write, paint, meditate, romanticize, philosophize, and converse in a magical place in the middle of Öland, in the heart of the Midland Forest.
The coffee house at Ismantorp Castle offers - in addition to coffee, tea, juice and water - sandwich buns made from wood-stove baked bread containing Öland wheat, wood-stove-baked vienna buns, and delicious home-baked cakes. The pastries and drinks are largely made from organic ingredients and fruit and berries from Öland. The outdoor tables are airy under or next to old oaks and hazel bushes. On rainy or cold days it is possible to sit inside the large cabin, and sometimes there is a fire in the fireplace.
If you have questions about Öland's nature and culture, you can ask your questions at the same time as you order your coffee. It is also possible to book smaller groups for coffee and lectures, guided tours (Ölandsguide), etc.
